I got the job through contacts.

I didn’t need any qualifications.
What do you do on a daily basis?
We checked that the phones where indeed in the phone box’s, sometimes the phone would go missing in transit from one country to another. We where dealing with thousands of phones on a daily basis. A short while after I started to work there we reprogrammed the phones, this included inputting language packs and unlocking some of the phones.

Are there any perks to your job?
We would receive bonus’s depending on the success of the current week. sometimes, in my case, the bonus was more then the actual pay as I only worked about 4 days per week.

What do you like about your job?
It was extremely laid back. We sometimes watch big matches while we were working.

Through an agency.
Do you need a qualification to do your job?
No, but it helps to have IT qualifications, eg A+, N+, MCPs, etc.
What do you do on a daily basis?
Basically 1st and 2nd line support. I’m on the help desk and answer the phones and e-mails when they come in. I help administer the servers, PC and laptops, telephone system and third party software that the company uses. Solve IT related problems.

Are there any perks to your job?
I get full Internet access.

What do you like about your job?
Working with computers.

A friend already at the company referred me for the role.
Do you need a qualification to do your job?
A degree level qualification is obviously preferred, but a strong portfolio and the ability to demonstrate your understanding of the relevant fields (i.e. Flash, ActionScript, and OOP techniques) should do the trick.
What do you do on a daily basis?
Liaising with course writers and turning their ideas into something interactive and visual.

What was your best day at work?
My best day was when I fought (and won) to have a major project done in-house rather than outsourced. The project was fairly intense and was entrusted to me to do.

What was your worst day at work?
Making one of my team redundant.

Are there any perks to your job?
You get to work with other creative individuals and bounce ideas of them continuously. You’ll get to learn a lot from others and draw inspiration from them.

What do you like about your job?
It combines both elements of design and development which allows me to be really creative.

What don’t you like about your job?
Projects will often have tight deadlines, so you will often find yourself replicating rather than innovating. This can be frustrating sometimes because you’ll know that you could do something really fantastic with the brief but just won’t have the time.

My friends were working there so they vouched for me, showed them some stuff, that I did but trust me my work was very basic but looked good.
Do you need a qualification to do your job?
Nope, just good portfolio which I did not have.
What do you do on a daily basis?
Amend past work, amending to updated info. Take 3 breaks, eat on the table when you were not supposed to. It was quiet laid back, less stressing than my previous job.

What was your best day at work?
Days when you had nothing to do, you go to work and browse the internet and I got paid to do that. Amazing don’t you think.

What was your worst day at work?
When I had to work on HBOS, Directors did not f*ckin give us enough time.

Are there any perks to your job?
Great staff, clean toilets and directors supplied us with bread and just. Free food thank you ATL.

Good learning experience.

I think that these days the companies care about knowledge and portfolio work more then anything else. as someone seeking employment you can have a degree and know very little about how to do your job. However having a qualification means that you have some guaranteed background experience.
What do you do on a daily basis?
Designing and implementing quiz’s and interactive components to work alongside textual content so better enable the reader to learn and retain information presented to them.

I worked in a laid back environment, the workforce there was very easy to get along with. I didn’t have any problems with anyone.

What don’t you like about your job?
Sometimes it was unclear what was expected of us, the specification of certain ‘jobs’ would sometimes change at a moments notice and we would be expected to adapt with a reasonable amount of speed.
