After A-levels, I did a BTEC Foundation in Art & Design before graduating from University with a BA (Hons) degree in Graphic Design.
Not always essential for creative positions, but a fresh and interesting portfolio that proves your skill and standard of creativity is crucial.
Artworking, admin, brainstorming, tea-making, advising clients, talking to suppliers about technical requirements & generally speaking: creative problem solving. Training and mentoring junior designers.
What was your best day at work?
At my first placement I got to work on the rebranding of UEFA Champions League and got to hold the trophy during a photoshoot & it still smelt of champagne!
What was your worst day at work?
When I sent a big print job that was riddle with mistakes and technical errors.
Are there any perks to your job?
Cool job title, no strict dress code.
What do you like about your job?
Personal development, stimulating work load, work with interesting people & get to do work that gets recognition.
What don’t you like about your job?
Long hours, long meetings, clients who think they know better than you. Sacrificing design integrity to satisfy the client.

It’s a good lifestyle if you can sustain it. You aught to be ambitious, passionate and above all open-minded.
