Brother hooked me up with jobs from the company he was working for.
A degree in multimedia helps, but demonstration you can use flash via an online portfolio helps.
Initially you go in for a meeting with the client or designer to discuss and develop ideas. After that I go ahead and make a prototype. It gets sent to the client and they send back comments. Also the prototype may undergo design changes. I would keep amending the prototype until the client is happy.
What was your best day at work?
When I received a CD with an interface I developed for. It went out to all business developers in the London region.
What was your worst day at work?
Not hitting a deadline when I said I would and on top of that I failed to email the project to the designer too so it ended up a day and a half late.
Are there any perks to your job?
I work from home.
What do you like about your job?
I work from home so I have no bosses watching over my shoulders. I occasionally work in my pajamas.
What don’t you like about your job?
It can get pretty boring at home sometimes…
Personal Comments
I did freelance work when I graduated from uni. My skills weren’t the greatest but I could do what was asked. I’d recommend doing freelance work only after you have experience in industry because you end up turning down quite a few jobs.
Would you recommend this job to someone else?:
Yes
